Before They Were Stars (2-for-1 Special): Steve Martin and Super Dave Osborne Win Writing Emmys in 1969

Steve Martin’s first major break came in the late 1960s when he got a gig on the writing staff of the television variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In 1969, the writing team ended up winning an Emmy Award and Martin was one of the many writers who got to go up on stage to accept the honour, but given that he was still a complete unknown at the time, he didn’t get to do anything but stand in the background. Incidentally, you might recognize one of the other writers on stage, Bob Einstein, who went on to become the future Super Dave Osborne.
