Before They Were Stars: David Bowie Sings “I Pity the Fool”

Obviously, The Back Row is featuring a plethora of material featuring the late, great David Bowie this week and of course, that also extends to¬†“Before They Were Stars” footage. Here’s one of Bowie’s rarest tracks from the mid-1960s when he was still performing under the name, Davie Jones, and had a brief turn with a blues band called The Manish Boys. He provided vocals for a tune titled “I Pity the Fool”, which I can only assume is Mr. T’s favourite David Bowie song. Incidentally, the guitar solo on this track is provided by a young Jimmy Page, who was working as a studio musician during this time period.
