This new Ben Affleck film The Accountant is about an obsessive-compulsive, perhaps autistic forensic accountant who also has something of a Jason Bourne bent in that he appears to be an expert killer. And y’know, it looks all right, but boy does it come at an odd time. Having this movie follow Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice immediately invites drawing connections between the two movies. Since Affleck’s character in The Accountant seems to be younger than Bruce Wayne, could this, in fact, be Batman’s origin story? Maybe before he became a crimefighter, Bruce Wayne trained himself to be a killer while infiltrating organized crime by cooking the books for illicit clients.
The Accountant comes out October 14, 2016.
