But wait – is it really a sequel to The Wicker Man? It has Christopher Lee in it, and it’s being produced by British Lion Films, who produced the original Wicker Man, but director Robin Hardy maintains that it’s not really a sequel, in spite of its few shared elements. Based on Hardy’s novel Cowboys for Christ, the film follows two young Christians from Texas who move to Scotland do some door-to-door preaching. When they are welcomed into the home of Sir Lachlan Morrison, they assume that he just wants to hear more about Christ…but apparently he has more sinister plans in mind.
I’m a fan of the original Wicker Man and I think the ridiculous Nic Cage remake is enjoyable if you watch it as a comedy, but I can’t help but wonder if it has been too long since the original film for this quasi-almost-sequel to pull a crowd. Still, it sounds interesting enough.
