Paganini Horror!

Wow! Two Paganini-related posts in a row! What are the odds?!

Last Friday’s podcast featured my friend the inestimable Mat Kelly, who is a huge fan of Luigi Cozzi, director of schlock extraordinaire! After braving the ridiculous Hercules and the Star Wars ripoff Starcrash, Mat was on the lookout for more Cozzi movies and discovered Paganini Horror! Here’s a plot summary:

A female rock group rents a haunted Venetian mansion in which the infamous Italian violinist Nicolo Paganini supposedly sold his soul to the Devil for fame and fortune. The group plans on making a horror/music video based on the story of Paganini using a cursed piece of his music entitled “Paganini Horror”. Once this music is played the laws of time and space break down and the masked Paganini returns from his grave to slaughter the model girls with his spiked violin…

I really love the knife-violin. When Mat originally described this to me, I thought Paganini would kill people with supernatural music, but no – he just stabs them with his switchblade violin. So awesome. I’m going to have to track this down sometime.
