The countdown to Halloween begins on “Before They Were Stars” this week as I feature famous actors who had inauspicious early roles in horror films. And this isn’t going to focus on the stars who started their careers off in horror classics, like Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween, Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th or Johnny Depp in A Nightmare on Elm Street. No, this will feature the stars who had to pay their dues in very lousy or mediocre horror movies that have long since faded into obscurity. For starters, here’s a young Brad Pitt in a 1989 teen slasher film called Cutting Class. I don’t think his melodramatic delivery here of the line “DO SOMETHING!!” is going to show up on his career highlight reel.
Other examples that would fit into this category which have already been posted here include Clint Eastwood, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Viggo Mortensen, Renee Zellweger, Matthew McConaughey and George Clooney. But there are so many more to choose from…
