Before They Were Stars: 12-Year Old Russell Crowe in an Australian Soap Opera

As my clip of Heath Ledger’s dialogue-free bike-riding role in Ship to Shore demonstrated, Australian actors who make it big in Hollywood sometimes to start their careers off in the most unspectacular fashion in their native country. Such was also the case with Russell Crowe, who made one of his very first acting appearances at the age of 12 in the Australian soap opera, The Young Doctors. Russell has a grand total of four lines in this scene, two of which are “oh yeah, there” and “no”.
