Mortal Kombat: Legacy Is A Harbinger Of A Storm Of Mortal Kombat Properties

Way back when TBR was in its infancy, I posted a mock trailer that director Kevin Tancharoen had put together as a sort of pitch reel for a Mortal Kombat series with a new, gritty take on the classic video game’s lore. Well, apparently the idea was picked up and according to Twitch, it will be manifesting itself as a series of webisodes that pave the way for not only a new Mortal Kombat game, but a new feature film as well! I wish I were a bigger Mortal Kombat fan so I could get really excited about all of this, but honestly, my interested in the franchise kinda disappeared after Mortal Kombat 2. That said, I loved the movie when I was a kid, so it does warm my heart a bit to see that something that entertained me as a child is still around to try and entertain me as an “adult”. The first webisode will be released online on April 12, 2011 and will feature Jeri Ryan (of Star Trek: Voyager fame) as Sonya Blade and Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite) as Jax.
