Batman Gets A Musical, Too

One would think that the continuing disaster that is Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark would sway investors from turning other superhero properties into musicals, but no! Apparently the Dark Knight himself is getting a musical makeover in the form of Batman Live, or, as io9 calls it, Batman: Turn On The Camp. It looks pretty tacky, in my opinion, but if I had seen this when I was a kid, I probably would’ve gotten a big kick out of it. Plus…

According to the BBC this massive on stage production cost millions, and promises a 100-foot stage “that will house scale models of Gotham City and a circus tent.” The show also promises a Batmobile, martial arts and “gadgets.”

Well, that all sounds good! It’s almost a pity this is only showing in the UK. Batman Live goes live at the Manchester Evening News Arena on July 19, 2011.
