The Sad Truth

The guys behind the awesome webcomic Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and the live-action spinoff SMBC Theater recently made this short about the perils of nostalgia. It’s so true. Nothing (or nearly nothing) that we loved as kids holds up today. Well, that’s not necessarily true. The live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is still a lot of fun. And I still love Looney Tunes and Batman: The Animated Series unabashedly. But for the most part, this video is totally accurate. Video games from the 80’s and 90’s are often too monotonous to play (with a few key exceptions like the Mario Bros. games), and many of the cartoons we adored as kids are undeniably lame. Thankfully, the SMBC guys have a solution!
