Here’s another preview out of E3 that caught my eye. It’s for a game adaptation of Star Trek that features the classic characters as they appear in J.J. Abrams’ reboot of the series. The game itself looks pretty cool…but that’s entirely because it’s ripping off Mass Effect directly! Honestly, the only things that differentiate this from a Mass Effect game are the designs of the spaceships and the appearence of Spock. Other than those factors, this really, really resembles Mass Effect. Not that that’s a bad thing, necessarily, as the Mass Effect game format suits the world of Star Trek. It just feels pretty derivitive, and frankly, I’d rather be playing Mass Effect instead of a movie-to-videogame adaptation. What do you guys think?
