Before They Were Stars: Jessica Biel in “It’s a Digital World”

Well, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more bizarre and obscure “Before They Were Stars” feature than this one. When she was only twelve years old, Jessica Biel got her first screen role in a short film called It’s a Digital World, a really strange musical fantasy that showed how characters from famous children’s stories would function in a more modern digital world. The filmmakers actually intended this short to be a 20-minute promotional trailer which would could be used to secure funding to turn It’s a Digital World into a feature-length children’s movie. Obviously, that didn’t pan out, but they can always take credit for having discovered Jessica Biel. Anyway, Jessica plays a girl named Regrettal who lives in a shoe with her brother, Handful, and her Uncle Gepetto (talk about crossing up your fairy tales!), and you can first see her at the 7:17 mark of the movie. Her entire face is painted blue for the role and she even sings too!
