The casting people on this commercial for Safeguard Deodorant Soap really hit the jackpot as not only did they manage to score a young Tom Selleck to appear in their ad, but also found brief early roles for Penny Marshall and Teri Garr. Too bad this commercial sets feminism back several years as all the women here are portrayed as air-headed bimbos who instantly gush and fall in love with Mr. Selleck because of his Safeguard smell. Well, I guess some women would eventually go on to gush about Tom Selleck this much, but come on, the guy hasn’t even grown his mustache yet!
