Michael Shannon is an American stage and screen actor whose career is really hitting its stride. He began his career as a stage actor in Chicago and later graduated to film roles with his first appearence on screen in Groundhog Day as a groomsmen. Since then, he has gone on to play roles in movies such as Jesus’ Son, Pearl Harbor, Bug, World Trade Center, 8 Mile, Vanilla Sky, The Runaways, Kangaroo Jack, Bad Boys 2 and Revolutionary Road – a role which garnered him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. He now stars in the amazingly awesome HBO series Boardwalk Empire, and will fill Terrence Stamp’s shoes as General Zod in the upcoming Superman remake/reboot The Man of Steel. Shannon turns 37 today.
