I feel like I’ve been getting too mainstream with my choices for celebrity birthdays, so let’s go for another character actor! David Paymer has been acting in film and television since the late 70’s, and his over 100 acting credits include such TV shows as Happy Days, The Greatest American Hero, Family Ties, The Jeffersons, Matlock, Murphy Brown, 21 Jump Street, Diff’rent Strokes, Cheers, L.A. Law, The Commish, and Tales From The Crypt, and his film acting credits include Airplane II: The Sequel, Howard the Duck, Night of the Creeps, Quiz Show, Nixon, The American President, Get Shorty, Amistad, Payback, Red Belt and Drag Me To Hell! Talk about an awesome filmography! He also worked on the Billy Crystal movie City Slickers, and Crystal apparently liked him so much that he gave Paymer a role in Mr. Saturday Night – which earned him an Oscar nomination. Paymer turns 57 today.
