There’s been a dearth of high-quality horror movies in 2011, but thankfully it looks as though there might be some hope on the horizon! The Awakening stars Rebecca Hall as a ghost hunter and hoax exposer in the years shortly after World War 1 who is approached by the headmaster of a boy’s school (played by Dominic West) who believes the boys are being tormented by a supernatural entity. While the trailer doesn’t portray the movie as breaking much in the way of new ground, I think this could very well be the good, old-fashioned ghost movie that horror fans like me have been waiting for. Now if only it would get a North American distributor…
The Awakening comes out in tue UK in October 2011, but no word yet as to when it’s coming to North America.
