Before she launched her music career, Avril Lavigne was the star player on the local girls hockey team in her hometown of Napanee, Ontario. This rare handheld home video footage is from 1997 or so, and you can see young Avril trading punches with the opposing team’s goalie before being sent to the penalty box. Even though she is wearing a face guard, you know it’s Avril Lavigne because you can hear her incredibly loud and obnoxious hockey mom yelling out her name.
