Amy Acker is a Dallas-born actor who became my #1 celebrity crush just now as I was searching for a good photo of her and realized they’re ALL good! Acker started her acting career on the stage in her hometown, and made her television debut on the kids TV show Wishbone. Her major television debut came on the Joss Whedon-helmed Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off series Angel, wherein she starred as Winifred “Fred” Burkle, who became a demon named Illyria in later seasons of the show. She won a Saturn Award for her role, and continued to work with Whedon on his TV series Dollhouse. She also had a prominent role on the final season of Alias, and played smaller parts on episodes of How I Met Your Mother and CSI, as well as a small role in the Steven Spielberg movie Catch Me If You Can. You’ll get another chance to see Acker working with Whedon in the upcoming movie Cabin in the Woods, which I’m looking forward to greatly. Amy Acker turns 35 today.
