I have long been anticipating seeing the first trailer for the Joss Whedon-directed horror flick The Cabin in the Woods, starring Chris Hemsworth (of Thor), Richard Jenkins (of practically everything) and two of the Dollhouse cast members (Amy Acker and Fran Kranz), as the movie was apparently completed a couple of years ago, but was then shelved for a 2012 release. Now a trailer has finally arrived, and it looks like a pretty typical movie about a group of rowdy, horny young people who head to an isolated cabin and then…WAITAMINUTE. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! I mean, I knew that Whedon and writer Drew Goddard were intent on playing with our expectations when it comes to the cabin-slasher genre, but I never dreamed that the movie would be anything like this! After watching this preview, I’m even more excited to see this movie than before. Holy crap, this came way out of left field. Nicely done, Messrs. Whedon and Goddard. Nicely done.
The Cabin in the Woods comes out April 13, 2012, and I can’t wait. Time to watch the trailer again!
