Before They Were Stars: Jim Broadbent on “Blackadder”

Before he became a renowned Academy Award-winning actor, Jim Broadbent made his name by acting in a lot of stage productions throughout the 1970s and 80s and played numerous small supporting roles in film and television. In 1983, he made a guest appearance on the “Queen of Spain’s Beard”, the fourth episode in the history of the acclaimed Blackadder series. The plot involves Edmund being forced into an arranged marriage with the very unattractive Spanish Infanta, and Broadbent plays the role of Don Speekingleesh, the Infanta’s flamboyant interpreter.
