Mass Kinect 3

If you know me, you know that I’m not really a console gamer. I’ve been a PC gamer my whole life, and I have no intention of stopping now, especially with the prevalence of first-person shooters on the market these days. Sorry, console gamers, but two thumbs on joysticks doesn’t even compare to the versatility of a keyboard/mouse combo when it comes to first-person shooters. But y’know, after seeing this video demonstrating the Kinect’s voice control commands for Mass Effect 3…well, hell, I might just have to get one. If there’s one thing that’s always bugged me about the Mass Effect games, it’s the way you have to pause things to coordinate your team, or the fact that it takes a little while for Shepard to ready his next weapon (making the scroll wheel on the mouse – usually my go-to method for switching weaponry – a bit slow). But now you can just shout at Shepard and he’ll do what you want!

Okay, maybe it’s not all that impressive, but from the look of things, this little mechanic has streamlined the game a bit, and that’s cool by me. But I was exaggerating when I said I’m going to buy a Kinect. Still a PC gamer. All the way.

Mass Effect 3 comes out March 6, 2012.
