Celebrity Birthday of the Day – February 23

Here’s a starlette whose career began in a most unusual way! Kelly Macdonald started acting while working as a barmaid. She saw an advertisement calling for actors to audition for Danny Boyle’s film Trainspotting and won the part of Diane, the seductress of Ewan Macgregor’s character Renton. Since then, her star has been slowly rising, with some of Macdonald’s other notable film roles including appearances in Stella Does Tricks, Elizabeth, Entropy, Gosford Park, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Finding Neverland, Nanny McPhee, and A Cock and Bull Story. 2007 was a big year for Macdonald, as she was cast in No Country For Old Men, which thrust her futher into the limelight. She followed up No Country For Old Men with roles in Choke and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and in 2010 she landed the role of Margaret Schroeder on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. This year sees her voice the main character in Pixar’s Brave, and I think it’s safe to say that Kelly Macdonald has officially become an A-lister in show business. She turns 36 today.
