Okay, this trend is getting out of hand. Here we have a countdown to a teaser to a trailer for Rian Johnson’s Looper, which would be the most ridiculous piece of Inception-like marketing I’ve ever heard of except that this countdown teaser thingy actually has some footage that won’t be in any of the other trailers – namely Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rian Johnson doing some quipping about the movie. So at least there’s that. From what I’ve seen of the film in this little whatever-you-want-to-call-it, Looper looks very, very neat. But then, I’m a sucker for time travel. Check out this wicked synopsis:
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
