Michael Pitt’s film and television career took off in 1999 after a casting agent noticed him in an off-Broadway production of The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek and recommended him for a role on the TV series Dawson’s Creek. In 2001, having appeared in numerous episodes of the show, Pitt made a breakout film debut in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. From 2001 until 2010, Pitt stuck primarily to acting in film, and appeared in movies such as Bully, The Dreamers, Last Days, The Village, Delirious, Silk, and Funny Games – the one exception being a role in one episode of Law & Order: SVU. In 2010, Pitt took on the role of Jimmy Darmody on the awesome HBO series Boardwalk Empire, and lemme tell ya, he was amazing in the part. Michael Pitt turns 31 today, and I certainly hope to be seeing more from him soon!
