We here at The Back Row love to celebrate the birthdays of the cast of Firefly, and today the birthday girl is Gina Torres! Torres is an award-winning actress who has been acting in film and television since 1992. One of her earliest acting credits is in the TV movie M.A.N.T.I.S., which also happened to be Sam Raimi’s TV directing debut. Working predominently as a television actress, Torres boasts an impressive resume of credits, including roles on Law & Order, NYPD Blue, One Life to Live, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Cleopatra 2525, Angel, CSI, The Guardian, Justice League, The Shield, Alias, Bones, FlashForward, 24, Gossip Girl, and, of course, Firefly. Her film credits aren’t nearly as extensive, but are likewise impressive, as she has been in The Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions, as well as Serenity. Okay, so I’m cheating on that one. Gina Torres turns 43 today.
