Before They Were Stars: The Beastie Boys on a Public Access Show in 1984

As I’m sure you’ve heard, Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA of the Beastie Boys, has just passed away. I’m not a big music buff, so I must confess that I’m hardly the biggest Beastie Boys expert in the world, but I wanted to see if I could dig up some obscure footage of them and I think I’ve definitely found it. When they were teenagers, The Beastie Boys started off as a cult hardcore punk band that performed throughout New York City in the early eighties, and in 1984, just before they made the transition to hip hop, they appeared on this ultra-low budget public access program called The Scott and Gary Show. It goes without saying that they came a long, LONG way.
