Gabourey Sidibe’s acting career started with a bang, as her role as Claireece “Precious” Jones in the film Precious netted her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress and thrust her into the limelight. Her filmography at this point isn’t extensive, but she has also appeared in the Brett Ratner film Tower Heist and will be appearing in the Martin McDonagh-directed crime comedy Seven Psychopaths. Sidibe has also played a reoccuring role on the TV series The Big C, voiced a character on an episode of American Dad!, and appeared as Black Hitler in Jimmy Kimmel’s Movie The Movie. From unknown to Academy Award nominee in only one role – I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of Gabourey Sidibe from here on in. She turns 29 today.
