When he made Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Guy Ritchie cast two former athletes who had zero acting experience, but would soon become huge movie stars: Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham. However, in sharp contrast to Jones being one of the most famous footballers in Britain, Statham’s athletic background consisted of being a professional diver! He was a member of Britain’s National Diving Squad for twelve years and had Olympic aspirations at one point, but his career peak was probably finishing 12th in the World Championships in 1992. Since Sam Worthington just did an action thriller called Man on a Ledge, maybe Statham’s next project should be Man on a Diving Board.
