Celebrity Birthday of the Day – June 26

Born in Germany but raised in the USA, Josef Sommer is a “That Guy” actor to an extreme. He’s been acting since 1971, when he made his film debut in Dirty Harry. Since then, he’s appeared in loads of popular films, including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Witness, Moonlight and Valentino, D.A.R.Y.L., The Mighty Ducks, Strange Days, Shaft, The Sum of All Fears, The Family Man, X-Men 3: The Last Stand, Stop-Loss, and The Other Guys. He’s done a large amount of television acting as well, with appearances on American Playhouse, Hothouse, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Early Edition, Ally McBeal, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and The West Wing. He’s played three historical presidents (Gerald Ford in The Betty Ford Story, Franklin D. Roosevelt in The Kennedys of Massachusetts, and Woodrow Wilson on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) and a fictional president in X-Men 3. I guess he just has the face of a leader! Josef Sommer turns 78 today.
