Celebrity Birthday of the Day – August 29

Who would think that behind that smile lurks the mind who gave us some of the most infamous horror films of the past few years? Tom Six is a Dutch filmmaker who began his directorial career at the production company that created the Big Brother TV series. Not satisfied with overseeing reality TV, Six started a company with his sister, where he began writing and directing films such as Gay in Amsterdam, Honeyz, and I Love Dries. In 2010, Six gained widespread notoriety when he released the grotesque body horror movie The Human Centipede (First Sequence), the success of which allowed Six to make a sequel titled The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence).

Both are totally gross, but I certainly respect Six for having the guts to make them. With a third instalment in The Human Centipede franchise on the way, you can bet that we’ve only seen the beginning of the lurid career of Tom Six, horror director. He turns 40 today.
