The Hole centers on Susan, a mother who moves with her teen sons to a rural house where they are forced to face their fears after discovering a bottomless hole in the basement.
Shortly before starting The Back Row, I remember watching a 2010 trailer for the new film from Joe Dante called The Hole. It was supposed to be released that year, but it never saw the light of day, getting shelved until just a few days ago, apparently. Big Air Studios and Bold Films are, at long last, released the latest movie from the director of classics like Gremlins and Innerspace, but watching this new trailer for it…well, I can see why no one was rushing to get it into theatres. It doesn’t look bad, really, but it doesn’t exactly do anything for me, either, which is a real shame, because I’m a die-hard fan of Dante’s work. Here’s hoping The Hole is better than it looks.
The Hole is quite probably coming out on September 28, 2012.
