Before They Were Stars: Barack Obama in a TBS “Black History Minute” PSA

The Back Row may not be a political website, but who says the newly re-elected President of the United States can’t get the “Before They Were Stars” treatment? Back in 1991, Barack Obama was the 29-year old president of the Harvard Law Review and made his first nationally televised appearance on TBS during Black History Month where notable African-Americans were brought in to do one-minute PSAs entitled “Black History Minute”. Here, the future President talks about renowned black lawyer Charles Houston Hamilton and speaks in a much more robotic and monotone voice that he’d display in the years to come.
