Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie

In 1982, Atari produced a game based on the biggest blockbuster movie of that year, E.T., and rushed it to meet the deadline for the Christmas shopping season. It was a commercial failure and millions of unsold game cartridges were buried in a desert landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Coincidentally, it’s not too far from Roswell, the landing site of a different kind of E.T.

Hey, this is great! The first trailer for Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie, starring James Rolfe, has been released, and y’know what? It’s awesome! It’s a natural extension of the review series – the AVGN is finally forced to review the infamously terrible E.T. video game, and gets mixed up in some action comedy along the way. What impresses me most about this trailer is how much fun it looks, and how well it handles the formula we’ve seen before numerous times in films like Fanboys, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Paul. The chiptuned music in the trailer is pretty damn awesome too, as is the cameo from the Black Nerd of Black Nerd Comedy on Youtube. I think this looks like a blast!

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie comes out in the summer of 2013.
