Celebrity Birthday of the Day – December 11

Writer/director Tom Shadyac graduated from UCLA Film School in 1981, and only two years later he was writing jokes for the famous comedian Bob Hope. Shadyac did a brief bit of acting work in the 80s as well, making appearances on the TV show Magnum, P.I. and in the movie Jocks. In 1994, Shadyac made his directorial debut with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective – the film which made a star of Jim Carrey and started a multi-film relationship with Shadyac, with their other collaborations being Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty. Other films written or directed, or both, by Shadyac include Patch Adams, The Nutty Professor, Dragonfly, and Evan Almighty. Tom Shadyac turns 54 today.
