Before They Were Stars: Mickey Rourke in “Love in the Hamptons”

Mickey Rourke’s first official acting job came in 1976 when he starred in this ultra-obscure 24-minute short film called Love in the Hamptons. Rourke plays a young waiter in the Hamptons who winds up becoming involved with an older cocktail waitress. Overall, this is a fairly boring drama which is amateurishly scripted and shot (for example, you can still hear the sound of wind blowing into the microphone during a scene set on the beach), but Rourke still delivers a pretty decent performance. Also be on the lookout for noted character actor Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, Robocop, Good Night and Good Luck), who has an early role here as one of Rourke’s friends. Anyway, to watch the other two parts, see below.
