The Zombie Western I Never Wanted

A cursed gunman whose victims come back from the dead recruits a young warrior to help in the fight against a gang of zombies.

I’d like to tell you a story. Once upon a time, about ten years ago, I read about a movie called Wretched that was in pre-production. It sounded good – the film was a zombie Western starring Chow Yun-Fat as a gunslinger whose specialty was killing the undead. The concept art for the film looked terrific, and I had high hopes for the project. Alas, it fell through for reasons I’ve never learned. Well, now, many years later, I’m getting a zombie Western, but it sure doesn’t look like the one I wanted. Instead of Chow Yun-Fat, I’m getting Wesley “Tax Problems” Snipes, and he’s basically playing Blade in the Old West. It all looks pretty cheap and uninspired, and I really hope this film wasn’t made from Wretched‘s recycled remains.

Gallowwalkers has already been released in the UK. Who knows when it will show up in North America? Or, more to the point: who cares?
