My beloved part-time employer, Cracked.com, just published an article yesterday entitled “The 5 Most Embarrassing Past Lives of Famous Musicians” which has given me a bunch of “Before They Were Stars” material to work with. The most eye-opening entry on the list was probably for the legendary heavy metal vocalist, Ronnie James Dio, who had a very unlikely musical beginning: he was the lead singer of a 1950s rockabilly band called Ronnie and the Redcaps. However, you can’t say that Ronnie wasn’t always a rebel because, as strange as it sounds now, this was about as hardcore and scandalous as music got back in the fifties.
