Canadian actor Patrick McKenna holds the unique distinction of winning two Gemini awards in the same year for his work on both a drama (Traders) and a comedy series (The Red Green Show). Known primarily for his comedy, McKenna first became interested in show business when he discovered Second City in high school. In 1983, after working as a night manager for Second City Toronto, McKenna graduated to the position of main stage performer, and during this time he also began performing standup comedy. It was in the late 1980s that he was offered the role of Harold Green by Steve Smith, creator of The Red Green Show – a role which McKenna played for the next 15 years. More recently, McKenna has appeared on other Canadian TV series such as The Ron James Show and The Rick Mercer Report. He turns 53 today.
