I enjoyed the cheesiness of Robert Rodriguez’s Machete enough that I’m glad to see a sequel being made, but from this promo clip, it kinda looks like the quality has gone downhill somewhat. Machete pulled the same tricks as Planet Terror in emulating the style of an old grindhouse movie, but this clip from Machete Kills looks way too polished. I hope they dirty it up more for the final cut, because that gritty look is part of the charm! Also, Michelle Rodriguez’s line “It takes a bitch to make a bitch and I smell fish taco” isn’t witty in the slightest, and only elicited a “lolwut?” from me.
