Well, the first trailer for the Robocop remake is finally here, and I’ll admit, it looks a heck of a lot better than I was expecting. The update of his outfit is modern, but still recalls the original nicely, and the fact that they have both the original silver color scheme and a new black tactical model not only makes sense, but is pretty badass. On top of all that, the supporting cast of Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton is killer. But wait. A remake of a classic Paul Verhoeven sci-fi movie with a PG-13 rating and a great supporting cast that looks like it’s trying to do something new with the source material while remaining reasonably true to its roots, and it has a solid trailer? Damnit, guys. This is just the Total Recall remake all over again. Sigh. Here’s hoping I’m wrong.
Robocop comes out February 7, 2014.
