Before They Were Stars: Peter O’Toole (with a dubbed voice!) in “The Savage Innocents”

Sadly, the legendary Peter O’Toole passed away a few days ago at the age of 81 and unfortunately, I will be showcasing what the late actor probably considered to be the most embarrassing role of his career. Two years before Lawrence of Arabia, O’Toole had a supporting role in a film called The Savage Innocents. The film itself wasn’t particularly embarrassing… but, much like Mel Gibson in Mad Max, O’Toole was horrified to watch the finished product and discover that his voice had been dubbed over by an American actor! O’Toole was so disgusted that he demanded that his name be removed from the film’s credits, but he obviously got the last laugh by delivering one of the most iconic performances of all time soon afterwards.
