With each new trailer for Under the Skin, I find myself more and more interested in it. I wanted to list it among my most anticipated films of 2014, but there’s no word yet as to when it will see a wide release. But man, this looks like something else. I’m getting shades of Cronenberg, Herzog and maybe some David Lynch in there too. I think one of the places that Species went really wrong (there are many, mind you) was in casting Natasha Henstridge as the alien seductress. Sure, she was good looking, but I just didn’t find her charismatic enough to buy her as this creepy predator. Scarlett Johansson, on the other hand, is charming enough to be terrifying, and pretty enough that I buy this premise entirely.
