My brother and I used to pretend we were heroes

Another trailer has been released for Zach Braff’s largely crowdfunded sophomore directorial effort Wish I Was Here, and much like the first trailer for the film, I find myself a bit divided. I really enjoyed Garden State when it first came out, but that was when I was an emo early-twenty-something feeling directionless. Of course that movie spoke to me. But now I’m a cynical early-thirty-something. Will Wish I Was Here manage to speak to me in the same way? I can’t help but feel like I would find this movie more profound if it had been released ten years ago. But I’m willing to give Mr. Braff the benefit of the doubt.

Wish I Was Here comes out August 1, 2014.
