Yesterday, I posted an ultra-obscure news clip about pre-Mystery Science Theater 3000 Joel Hodgson accidentally causing a bomb scare when he left a prop bomb in a hotel room following a stand-up comedy performance on Saturday Night Live. I decided to look more into Joel’s early stand-up career and found this footage of him performing on an HBO comedy special hosted by John Candy in 1983. Joel’s main schtick was being a prop comic and, yes, he looks just as stoned here as he did while hosting MST3K.
