I’m Johnny Knoxville, and this is a new Ninja Turtles ad!

This new Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie has a lot of problems. The turtles look weird, the entire visual style of the film is practically identical to Transformers, Megan Fox is April O’Neil…the list goes on and on. But ever since they got Johnny Knoxville to voice Leonardo, that’s the snag that keeps catching me. Knoxville’s voice is just too distinct and inherently goofy for Leo. It might work if he was doing Michelangelo, but even then, it’d be pretty obviously Knoxville doing the voice. I just watched Bad Grandpa, and now when Leonardo speaks, all I can hear is Irving Zisman. Anyway, that’s only scratching the surface on all the ways this movie is likely to be a disaster. But hey, at least in this ad you get to see the turtles when they were kids, and we get some more shots of Splinter. But meh.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes out August 8, 2014.
