This is some of the strangest “Before They Were Stars” footage I’ve ever uncovered and it originates from a failed 1981 ABC television pilot called Best of Times. I’ve seen this show described as both “a teenage version of Laugh-In” and “an early version of Saved by the Bell with Crispin Glover as Zack Morris and Nicolas Cage as A.C. Slater”. And who wouldn’t want to watch THAT?! Best of Times happens to feature the acting debuts of both Crispin Glover and Nicolas Cage (who is billed under his real name, Nicolas Coppola) and given the eccentric nature of both actors, it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that this show is pretty damn weird. In the following clip, Cage and the rest of the characters break out into a spontaneous Stomp-esque dance number inside a convenience store!
