The Troubled Ant-Man

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Ant-Man seems to be the first Marvel movie to run into serious behind-the-scenes drama that then made it out into the public eye. Sure, Thor: The Dark World had some issues with finding the right director, and there’s that whole Terrence Howard thing from Iron Man, but Ant-Man took beloved director Edgar Wright, gave him a dream project, and then refused to give him creative control. Now Wright’s gone, but the movie lives on, and…well, my enthusiasm for it has seriously waned. Will this be the first Marvel movie that I skip? It’s hard to say at this point, but here’s a paltry amount of footage to help you ponder the possibility.

Ant-Man comes out July 17, 2015.
