Before They Were Stars: Joel McHale Hosts a PBS Telethon

Joel McHale spent the first several years of his career performing on a Seattle-based sketch comedy show called Almost Live!. Apparently, this paved the way for him getting hosting gigs on the Washington state branch of PBS, including this telethon where had to beg viewers to go to their phones and pledge money to the station. All things considered, I’m surprised he’s never had to go back to his roots and ask people to pledge money to keep Community on the air.
