Before They Were Stars: Josh Gad in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a successful musical which ran for several years on Broadway and captured a couple of Tony Awards. The production is unique in that real audience members can actually be invited on stage during the performance to compete in the story’s spelling bee. Anyway, after Dan Fogler captured a Tony Award for his performance in the musical, he eventually stepped aside and his shoes wound up being filled by an unknown Josh Gad, which turned out to be his big break.
