Even though Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi had already been on Saturday Night Live for several months prior to making this, I think this particular project is obscure enough to qualify as a “Before They Were Stars” clip. In 1976, Aykroyd and Belushi teamed up with Lorne Michaels to co-write The Beach Boys: It’s OK, a television special which interspersed musical performances and comedy sketches to promote the Beach Boys’ latest album. The future Blues Brothers would pop up for a cameo 31 minutes into the special as a pair of cops who drag Brian Wilson out of bed and force him to go surfing.
